Just a couple things...

Good afternoon everyone! Thanks for all the Happy Birthday wishes!!!! I love being a teacher for a lot of reasons and one of them is that in no other profession does your birthday become a national holiday that involves getting all of the hugs, high fives, and pretend birthday cakes possible! These little ones have made it such a special day for me.
Just wanted to through out a reminder that if you were interested in ordering Spirit Wear shirts, those orders are due tomorrow. If you do not have an order form but want to order some, I believer there is a link in the newsletter or you can contact Lacy.
Also, there is a note in cubbies about the change in Payment schedules for December so please remember to take a look at those.
I think that is it for today...Have a good day and we will see you after school.

Back for three weeks and three days.

Welcome back to the work week my friends. I hope everyone had a nice, relaxing Thanksgiving. We are back at it in Preschool learning all about letter Ww. Today we are focusing on water and wind and tomorrow we will start talking about winter animals and their habits. We will also be doing a lot of activities to get us ready for Advent and the countdown to Christmas.
Tonight, field trip forms will go home for our field trip to the movie The Star. I saw it over the weekend with my family and cannot wait to show it to the kiddos. Unfortunately it will cost $6.25 for each child (sorry about the extra cost, especially at this time of year). Please send the forma and money back by December 8th. Thanks!
That is it for today, have a great afternoon, see you after school.

A Happy Thanksgiving to All

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you all have a wonderful holiday with your families. May there be plenty of company to keep you entertained, food to keep you full, and blessings to keep you thankful.
When we get back to school next Monday we will work on letter Ww for winter animals and waiting. We will be talking all about Advent and how we are waiting for the birth of Jesus. We will be making Advent wreaths and Christmas countdown chains to take home. It should be a great week.
Again, I wish you all a very blessed Thanksgiving. Stay safe and stay grateful!
God bless you,
Miss Brittney

Thank you's

Good Afternoon! I just wanted to say thank you for coming to family fun night last Friday and for all of your help in making the night so wonderful. We only have 2 days together this week, so we plan on spending it being thankful together and having fun. Today we made 'Thankful Heart' Turkeys (thanks to Oriental Trade :) and we are going to create our own Thanksgiving Feast and maybe have some shaving cream time since we haven't played in it in a while. Tomorrow we will hopefully get to the pilgrim and indian house project that we had to push off. We will also be having a mixed up Thanksgiving Feast. We are going to watch a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving while we eat Turkey (lunch meat), Potato (chips), (Candy) Corn, and Cranberry (Juice). I think they will get a kick out of it.
That is it for today, have a great afternoon and we will see you after school.

Things to come

With time flying by us so quickly I wanted to give you all a little lay out of all the things coming up in Preschool:
Thanksgiving Break/No School: Wednesday, November 22-24th
I saw a Preview for a wonderful movie about the Nativity, it is called The Star. I really want to share this movie with the kiddos so the other Preschool teachers and I have rented the theater for the morning and will be taking the kids to see the movie on Wednesday, December 13th. I will be attaching a trailer of the movie so you can see what it is all about. It will tie in perfectly with our unit on the Nativity.
December 14th: Baby Shower for Jesus (after school activity for just Miss Brittney's class, we will have a "baby shower" and whatever gifts are brought will be donated to the Pregnancy Help Center).
December 20th: 1:30 Dismissal for Christmas break-NO AFTER CARE.
December 21st-January 3rd: Christmas Break
January 4th: Classes Resume

It's going to be a busy month but I am so excited for it! I will get you all more details on the Movie and Baby Shower as I get them figured out. Have a great afternoon, see you after school.

Thanksgiving Break is in the air...

Today we did a lot of counting on our calendar and here is what we discovered:
We are on the 16th Day of November
There are 6 Days left until Thanksgiving Break
There are 7 Days left until Thanksgiving Day AND...
There is only 1 day left until Saturday!
It seems like everything is flying by so quickly! I hope over the weekend and the long break next week, everyone has a chance for some rest and relaxation. Have a great afternoon, see you after school.

Wednesday Day

Whew it is finally the afternoon! It has been a wild one this morning with fall concert, our special thanksgiving lunch, and indoor recess this morning. But the kiddos have done awesome! And with the beautiful weather, we took advantage and did a special after lunch recess before we laid down this afternoon. I think they really enjoyed the fall concert. They did all Disney songs like the Circle of Life, Under the Sea, and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Then we had our delicious turkey lunch. So all in all its been a good morning. Here is to a great afternoon! See you after school.

Wednesday Eve

Happy Tuesday Everyone! Today we were Native Americans and we talked about our friend Squanto and how he helped the Pilgrims. Then we made Indian Bead Necklaces and Head Dresses. We talked about how Native Americans gave each other names to show what they were good at so we will be getting our names this afternoon. We learned a new song today called Powwow. I learned it at my conference last week, and while it is not quite as spectacular as the Pocahontas soundtrack we have been using to wake up from nap, it does fit perfectly with our Pilgrims and Indians week. We will be using it for circle time this week for sure.
Thanks so much for the replies to the RSVP plea I put out yesterday. I can't wait to see everyone on Friday! Have a great afternoon, see you after school.

Back for a full week...

Good Afternoon! I heard that the kiddos did great with the substitutes but I am so glad to be back. The conference was great and helped remind me how to be flexible and creative in the classroom. This week we are doing Pilgrims and Native Americans. Today we talked about the Mayflower and about the Pilgrims. Tomorrow we are going to talk about Native Americans. Wednesday is going to be exciting because we are going to talk about how each group of people lived and the types of houses they built and we might become little construction workers for awhile.
Family Fun Night will be this Friday in the cafeteria from 6:00-7:30. This will be a sit down dinner of lasagna and spaghetti. We need final numbers by Tomorrow, November 14th so if you have not RSVPed, please do so as soon as possible. If you have forgotten to do so on the sign up sheet in the classroom, you can just email me and I will write you in. There will also be a cute Thanksgiving craft for you to do with your kiddo, it should be a lot of fun. I am looking forward to it.
Have a great afternoon and we will see you after school.

A moment of your time please.

We have had a pretty great day, filled with turkey fun and tootsie rolls (thanks for putting those in the letter bag, they were a hit!). I wore my turkey hat today and I think it made the learning really come to life today. If you didn't get a chance to see it, don't worry, I am sure your kiddo will tell you all about it :)
I will be gone tomorrow and Friday, I have talked to the kiddos about it and we have agreed that they can be big helpers and awesome teachers to help the substitute teacher figure out how our classroom works. I can't wait to see everyone on Monday next week!!!!
If you have not RSVPed for the Family Fun Night next Friday, please do so soon. We will need numbers by next Monday so we can begin purchasing supplies. I hope you can make it!
See you all soon!

Welcome Back

Welcome Back to school for the week. We are learning about letter T this week for Turkeys. This will lead us into our week of Pilgrims and Indians and the First Thanksgiving next week. In Religion we will be reading the story of the Poor Widow to lead us into talking about giving to others and being grateful for what we have (since next week we will be talking about counting our blessings in religion).
I will be reminding the kiddos that I will not be here on Thursday and Friday so they will get to have brand new adventures with two different teachers! If you have any questions or concerns about those two days, please let me know:)
Have a great afternoon, we will see you after school.

Just a few reminders

Well, it is officially no longer Halloween in our classroom. We did our last project today, a bat made out of handprints...and we took down all of the other decorations so we could start on T is for Turkey next week.
Just a reminder that there is NO SCHOOL Monday, November 6th. And I will be gone November 9th and 10th at the Missouri Early Learners conference (one of the sessions I am attending is about how to incorporate magic into teaching, I am so excited for it!). My substitute on Thursday will be Angie Culley and on Friday it will be my mom, Marie Massman. Angie is here today as a substitute for another teacher so they have met her and my mom is coming in this afternoon so they will have a chance to get reacquainted with her as well.
Have a great weekend, see you all on Tuesday!

No News...Just Kidding

Good Afternoon! In Preschool News today, I am sending home some Halloween crafts tonight to make room for Thanksgiving crafts. I am sorry to have deprived your houses of these beautiful crafts but we love decorating our room with all of their fabulous work!
Also going home tonight are flyers for our next family fun night and for the parish and school service project of the giving tree. Family Fun Night will be November 17th from 6:00-7:30. It will be a sit down meal of lasagna and spaghetti with a family Thanksgiving craft to follow. Since this will involve a meal, there are a lot of moving parts so we will need you to RSVP by the sign up sheets that will be posted in the classrooms starting tomorrow. It will be a great time, I hope everyone can make it!
Just a reminder there is no school on Monday (All teachers will be at Religious In-Service at Helias).
Hang in there everyone, tomorrow is Friday! See you after school.

Saints in Training

Saints in Training was the school year "theme" or sort of "motto" last year but it fits perfectly with what we are covering today. We talked a little bit about how today is all Saints Day and what Saints are, what they do. We talked about how they are people who love God very much and they help others by showing and telling them that God loves them. Saints do these things by making good choices and being good helpers. We talked about how if we can try really hard and always be on God's Team (a phrase my mother uses on me and my siblings often, it just means doing good things that God wants us to do) then maybe someday we can become Saints. This afternoon  we will be looking at some specific Saints and watch a Brother Francis video on the Saints.
Next week is going to be a bit crazy so here is a break down of next week's schedule:
Monday: NO SCHOOL-All teachers in the Diocese will be at Helias all day for a Religious In-Service Day
Tuesday and Wednesday: Regular days
Thursday: There will be a substitute because I will be at the Early Learners Conference.
Friday: My mom, Marie Massman, will be subbing because I will be at the Early Learners Conference.
I plan to process with the kids on Friday about the changes next week and what to do while I am not here, I know the separation will be hard on some of them but I hope that with my mom (former Preschool teacher) here, it won't be too hard since they have all met her before.
Have a great afternoon, see you after school!
