Friday's News

Good afternoon everyone! Today we got to carry our canned goods to the big building and then we got to see them loaded onto a huge truck! Avery showed us all kinds of A words like an apron, angel, applesauce, and even a picture of "Avery with Additude" hahaha she really enjoyed saying that. Thanks to mom, dad, and big sis Kayla for helping her find so many things! Today was our caramel/peanut butter Apple Day. We also had mini chocolate chips and MnMs for our apples-delicious!

Next week we our doing Fire Safety. There will not be a specific letter, we are going to review those we have done so far. And on Wednesday the fire station is bringing a fire truck to school for us to explore, it should be very exciting!

Permission slips for the field trip will be in today's folders so please fill them out and return to school next week. Thanks!

Busy, busy, busy

Whew we made it to the afternoon people! The kids have been fantastic today but our schedule has been crazy so we've been really flexible. They helped me run an errand to the office this morning and then we had donuts for breakfast thanks to Murrow and her Mommy! (Thank you! They really enjoyed the special treat). Today was also flu shot day, the kids getting shots did great! While they were getting shots we got to join Mrs.Ratcliff's class for a story so Miss Judy could take the kids to get their shots. We tried the apples so our Tuesday/Thursday kids could vote on their favorite. The standings are now 6 for red, 2 for green, and 5 for yellow.
In other news, the field trip permission forms will be in tomorrow's folders. Please read the letter, fill out the attached permission form, and send them back to school ASAP, at the latest we need them by Friday, October 6th so we can get everything organized. I am so excited!!!!

An Autumn Wednesday..

Good afternoon everyone! We continued our Apple adventure today by trying three kinds of apples and then we charted who liked which Apple best. We also talked about how we can have a whole Apple, cut it in half, or cut it into fourths. I think they are really enjoying Apple week and so am I! They were so brave and tried every kind of Apple and they even tried Apple cider! It was about 50/50 on whether they liked it but they all tried it so yayyy!!! We decided on an apple picnic for Friday with a Carmel/peanut butter Apple bar for snack time-yummy!
One announcement-if you signed your child up for a flu shot, they will be happening Thursday morning. Enjoy your nice, cool, and cloudy afternoon! We will see you after school.

Inside Out Tuesday

Today we decided to have class outside. We read a book called "I am an Apple," it was all about the life cycle of an apple. We learned about apple seeds and how they make a star shape in the middle of an apple. We wanted to see if we could find this star shape so we cut open an apple and we found it! We counted 5 points on each apple so that meant we had 10 all together. Then we made apple print patterns by dipping an apple slice in paint and then printing it on our paper. This afternoon we are going to do a little apple and letter Aa worksheet that involves cutting and glueing so wish us luck :)
That is about it for today. With it beginning to be cold and flu season I just wanted to make sure I mention the Preschool policy about sickness. If a child has fever, vomits, or has diarrhea they must be absent from school for 24 hours after the last occurrence of illness. Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to keeping our preschool healthy for everyone! Monday's Happenings

Good afternoon everyone, I hope you had a good weekend. This week we are learning all about the letter A and apples. This is a great unit because we can do all kinds of math and science. We are working on a really cute project that is a surprise gift and that's all the hints you get for now. This afternoon we are going to read the story of Noah and the Arc so we can do some projects on that later this week.
In big school news, the canned food drive is still going on this week, thank you all so much for your generous donations! Also it is reservation day for Parent Lunch L-R so if you will be attending please let the office know. Thank you!

F is for Friday

Happy Fall Y'all! We closed out our fall week with the letter bag and some special f treats- fruit snacks courtesy of the letter bag person, Ellie and her mom. We then talked about the canned food drive and how great it is that they are helping people who need it. The big school is doing a competition to see who can build a space themed object out of their cans, so we decided to do it to. We made a rocket ship-complete with fire and smoke coming out of the bottom of it! They really enjoyed this and got a kick out of using my stapler to hold the whole thing together.
Just a reminder that L-R parent lunch day is Thursday, October 5th. So if you are attending please call the school office at 573-636-8922 Ext. 338.

Details, details....

We had a lot of fun making and naming our Scarecrow boys and girls. We will wrap up our fall week with a little fall party tomorrow, even if the weather isn't cooperating, I think they've had a good time.
Now as promised here are the field trip details. We will being going on a field trip to Fisher Farms Thursday, October 12th. Parents are welcome to come but there is a $3 charge for adults. For the students it will be $6, this gets them access to all of the activities and three items to take home. We will get on the bus at 8:15 and parents can meet us there. If this is a day your child is not usually in Preschool, they can attend. They will just have to meet us there. Permission slips will be sent home sometime next week and will need to be turned into school with the money for the child and adult(s) attending before the field trip. If you have any questions, please let me know. I am so excited for our first field trip!!!! Thanks in advance for all your cooperation in all the prep that field trips take!

Wonderful Wednesday....

Good Afternoon Everyone! I hope everyone is staying cool, after recess today we were so hot we had an extra long drink break! We made some gorgeous fall trees and this afternoon we are going to do some fall tarcing. We also read/sang this really fun book- The Leaves Are Falling One by One (the tune of the ants go marching one by one:). They were laughing so hard during the story that of course we had to sing that song again on the way to recess.
In October we will be having a feild trip, I will get final details on that and get it out to you this week. Have a great afternoon and we will see you after school!

Tuesday Update

Today we made a very fall little acorn man, look for them hanging around our room :) This afternoon we are going to make a chart if all the fun fall activities we can do and we will see which on is the most favorite.
Thanks for coming to parent lunch day if it was your turn, we always love seeing parents at school!! Also thanks for bringing in food for our canned food drive, it is very much appreciated. We talked in class about some boys and girls don't get as much food as we do, so we are collecting food to help them. We talked about how that's a good way to show God's love. We are collecting all the way till September 29th.

A case of the Mondays...

Good Afternoon Everyone! It must have been a busy weekend because everyone is napping today. This week we are doing F is for fall, we kicked it off by talking about the Seasons and singing a song about the different things that happen in eac season. Then we had to find leaves, because leaves falling are a big part of fall. We crushed up the leaves and glued them to Ff. This afternoon we are going to do a "Falling in Love with Jesus" craft to talk about how Jesus loves us and how we can love Jesus by making good choices.
You may have heard that the big school is doing a canned food drive this week and next week, their version is a bit to extensive for our preschool building to keep up with so we are modifying it a bit. If your child brings in 2 cans of food by Friday, September 22 and 2 cans by Friday, September 29th(4 cans total in 2 weeks) we will have a popsicle day on Friday and a special extra recess. Thanks in advance for your generosity!

Happy Friday Everyone! Today we celebrated letter Nn with a name day party! There were name crowns,nutter butters, and name games at our party!! This afternoon we get to have our first buddy activity. Buddy activities happen once a month and they are where the 8th graders come to our class and we do special projects with them. I can't wait for our class to meet their buddies!!
Big school news- if you are ordering from those fundraising catalogues, please return those to school by Monday. Sorry for the late notice!

Friday Eve

Good Afternoon Everyone! We got to start our day with a look at a lot of N words thanks to Lily, her Mommy, and the letter bag. Great job with the net, nail, nickel, and all! Name recognition is going great, today we did the who hopped in frogs backward,they had to find their frog with their name themselves. They totally rocked it! Tomorrow we will be having a bit of a name party, it should be super fun!
School reminder that parent lunch day F-K is next Tuesday, September 19th. Check in at the office around 10:50-11:00 and then you can meet us in the cafeteria for lunch.

Name necklaces and other news

Hello,hello! Today we took our pictures and even got to go to the big school for it! I cannot wait to see how they all turned out! Then we went to our classroom and made name necklaces, we didn't get everyone's done so we will finish them after nap and recess. This morning we took turns being the Alligator in the Alligator Game, it was so fun!
I don't think there is any school related news today...thanks for all you parents do for our class, getting your kiddos up, ready, and to school. For helping them with any take home activities and for sending things in to school. You all have the most important job in the world and you are rocking it! I feel truly blessed to have your families in my life! Have a great afternoon, we will see you after school.

Terrific Tuesday!

Howdy Ho, Families! We made the cutest little name bugs today! Everyone knows the first letter of their name, which is awesome! And quite a few of them can completely spell their names or need just a tiny bit of help. We work on this every morning when we put up our frogs, so I'm glad to see it's helping!!
Since some of our friends will be leaving early, this afternoon we will be doing free play and maybe watch a PBS Kids show.
Last call!! Picture Day is tomorrow, we will do ours right away so no one has time to spill, rip, tear, or mess up their picture day look. Also, final reminder there is no After School Care tomorrow so your child will need picked up by 3:05...sorry for the inconvenience!

Monday, September 11th

Good Morning ( for the next 3 minutes...). Today since it's September 11th I wanted to share some of the importance of this date with the kiddos but I didn't want to freak them out, so at prayer time today I just told them that a long time ago, before they were born that something very sad happened that hurt a lot of people, si we were going to say a little prayer. We prayed to God to please keep everyone safe and help all of those people who got hurt on September 11th.
We started learning about letter N for names this week, so on Friday look in your child's cubby for all kinds of name crafts. In religion we are going to move on to the next story in the Bible, The Garden of Eden.
Calendar note: Every Second Tuesday of the month we have teacher meetings so the big school lets out at 1:30, that Does Not apply to Preschool. If you are picking up from the big school feel free to come and get your preschooler at the same time, but you do not have to. We have subs that come in and cover the Preschool classes at that time.

Friday the 8th

Hello Preschool Families, to any football fans out there- Happy Chiefs Beat The Patriots Last Night Day!!! Tonight is our first Family Fun Night! I think the kiddos are excited about it and I can't wait to see everyone! If you can't make it tonight, no worries there are more to come:)
We wrapped up letter C with Channing bringing back the letter bag and showing us all of the cool things he and his mom found. Next week we will be doing N is for Name and a new lucky kiddo will get the letter bag! Next week is also picture day on Wednesday, if you want to order pictures please have your forms in by that day. There is also no After School Care that day, sorry for the inconvenience!

Almost there...

Happy Thursday Families! We are almost to the weekend and with this gorgeous weather, I am so excited for it! We took advantage of the nice weather today by going out for recess a little bit early and tomorrow we are going to take a color walk in the morning and see what colors we can find around school! Tomorrow is also our first family fun night!!! It is going to be so great to see all the preschool families and get a little play time in for the evening. If you signed up to bring treats for tomorrow, thank you so much for doing that! Feel free to drop your treats off when you drop your kiddo off tomorrow morning if you don't want to have to worry about it tomorrow night.
I am going to get our creation color wheels ready, they will bring them home tonight so you will see them soon. Have a great afternoon and we will see you after school!

Wednesday all ready?

Good Afternoon Families! Can you believe we are already halfway through the week? This morning we sang a song about letter C and tried to find the letter C on our SMARTboard. Then at lunch they took it upon themselves to find C in the cafeteria and pointed it out to me every time I walked by. In our study of the colors, we named as many places as we could where we might see a certain color. We made red and yellow hand prints, then we rubbed our hands together to find out that yellow and red make orange. Some kiddos really enjoyed squishing the paint and some where really glad when they got to wash their hands. We will be painting a little bit more this afternoon to make our "God made the day and God made the night" pages for religion.
Some reminders, if you want your child to receive the flu shot at school, then please return that form by Friday. Friday is also our family fun night, so I hope I will get to see and talk to many of you then! A week from today, Wednesday, September 13th is picture day, if you would like to order pictures, please fill out that form and turn it in by that day. There is also no after school care on September 13th, sorry for the inconvenience!

Hello Families! So great to see everyone back after the long weekend! Sounds like everyone had a great one and now we have said good-bye to our last four day weekend for awhile.

We started talking about the letter "C" and how C is for colors we found different colors in our fruit loop snack and then we made a C out of colorful cereal for an after school snack.

I got a few picture order forms turned in today, thanks for those. Just a reminder that picture day is September 13th so if you are wanting to order pictures you have until then to turn the order forms back in.

This afternoon we are going to read the creation story and since Avery brought us some of her Grandma's gourds, we are going to talk about how God made the plants and do a little project with them! Thanks so much for bringing those in for our class!

In cubbies tonight...

Tonight their folders will be sent home,inside are all of their projects and some important school papers. There will be picture order forms because our school picture day is September 13th and there are fundraiser packets. I don't have much information on when either of these regarding when they need turned in, I will send out an email as soon as I find out.
Our bear picnic was very fun and we got to enjoy all the fun B words. Next week is C is for colors and one lucky student will get to start us off on using the letter bag! Have a fun and safe labor day weekend!
