We have had a pretty great day, filled with turkey fun and tootsie rolls (thanks for putting those in the letter bag, they were a hit!). I wore my turkey hat today and I think it made the learning really come to life today. If you didn't get a chance to see it, don't worry, I am sure your kiddo will tell you all about it :)
I will be gone tomorrow and Friday, I have talked to the kiddos about it and we have agreed that they can be big helpers and awesome teachers to help the substitute teacher figure out how our classroom works. I can't wait to see everyone on Monday next week!!!!
If you have not RSVPed for the Family Fun Night next Friday, please do so soon. We will need numbers by next Monday so we can begin purchasing supplies. I hope you can make it!
See you all soon!

Welcome Back
Welcome Back to school for the week. We are learning about letter T this week for Turkeys. This will lead us into our week of Pilgrims and Indians and the First Thanksgiving next week. In Religion we will be reading the story of the Poor Widow to lead us into talking about giving to others and being grateful for what we have (since next week we will be talking about counting our blessings in religion).
I will be reminding the kiddos that I will not be here on Thursday and Friday so they will get to have brand new adventures with two different teachers! If you have any questions or concerns about those two days, please let me know:)
Have a great afternoon, we will see you after school.

Just a few reminders
Well, it is officially no longer Halloween in our classroom. We did our last project today, a bat made out of handprints...and we took down all of the other decorations so we could start on T is for Turkey next week.
Just a reminder that there is NO SCHOOL Monday, November 6th. And I will be gone November 9th and 10th at the Missouri Early Learners conference (one of the sessions I am attending is about how to incorporate magic into teaching, I am so excited for it!). My substitute on Thursday will be Angie Culley and on Friday it will be my mom, Marie Massman. Angie is here today as a substitute for another teacher so they have met her and my mom is coming in this afternoon so they will have a chance to get reacquainted with her as well.
Have a great weekend, see you all on Tuesday!

No News...Just Kidding
Good Afternoon! In Preschool News today, I am sending home some Halloween crafts tonight to make room for Thanksgiving crafts. I am sorry to have deprived your houses of these beautiful crafts but we love decorating our room with all of their fabulous work!
Also going home tonight are flyers for our next family fun night and for the parish and school service project of the giving tree. Family Fun Night will be November 17th from 6:00-7:30. It will be a sit down meal of lasagna and spaghetti with a family Thanksgiving craft to follow. Since this will involve a meal, there are a lot of moving parts so we will need you to RSVP by the sign up sheets that will be posted in the classrooms starting tomorrow. It will be a great time, I hope everyone can make it!
Just a reminder there is no school on Monday (All teachers will be at Religious In-Service at Helias).
Hang in there everyone, tomorrow is Friday! See you after school.

Saints in Training
Saints in Training was the school year "theme" or sort of "motto" last year but it fits perfectly with what we are covering today. We talked a little bit about how today is all Saints Day and what Saints are, what they do. We talked about how they are people who love God very much and they help others by showing and telling them that God loves them. Saints do these things by making good choices and being good helpers. We talked about how if we can try really hard and always be on God's Team (a phrase my mother uses on me and my siblings often, it just means doing good things that God wants us to do) then maybe someday we can become Saints. This afternoon we will be looking at some specific Saints and watch a Brother Francis video on the Saints.
Next week is going to be a bit crazy so here is a break down of next week's schedule:
Monday: NO SCHOOL-All teachers in the Diocese will be at Helias all day for a Religious In-Service Day
Tuesday and Wednesday: Regular days
Thursday: There will be a substitute because I will be at the Early Learners Conference.
Friday: My mom, Marie Massman, will be subbing because I will be at the Early Learners Conference.
I plan to process with the kids on Friday about the changes next week and what to do while I am not here, I know the separation will be hard on some of them but I hope that with my mom (former Preschool teacher) here, it won't be too hard since they have all met her before.
Have a great afternoon, see you after school!

Halloween Party
We had our sweet treats (thanks for sending those in and thanks to everyone who sent in supplies, showed up to help, and thanks for supporting us through this crazy day:) and then we decided to do some Candy Corn races!
Just making some Mummies
Jumping into our Toilet Paper Leaf Pile
Halloween...Halloween
It's been a fun day so far with our costume parade and the haunted house. They are wiped! As evidenced by the fact that everyone was napping within 2 minutes today. I am going to let them rest a bit and try to keep the party pretty relaxed so that they are not terribly worn out for you this evening. We made trick or treat bags this morning and we have had our salty snack and one piece of candy. We will be having our sweet treats this afternoon. Thanks so much for helping with all of the things needed in our classroom! I will upload pictures of the party later today. I hope everyone has a very Happy Halloween and has a fun and safe time trick-or-treating this evening!
